Shindico, an industry leader with nearly 50 years of operations in real estate development and investment management in Canada, is looking for the following full-time permanent position to join our team:

Property Accountant

Working within a team of property accountants and reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for the overall accounting functions for a real estate asset portfolio consisting of retail, office, residential or development properties.

Main responsibilities include the following: 

  • Full cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties including monthly financial reporting, budgets, variance analysis, operations reports
  • Accounts payable including construction/development projects with related job costing and subledgers
  • Analyze, review and report on financial performance versus budget; reconcile operating cost and tax recoveries
  • Prepare government remittances and other reports
  • Respond to inquiries from team members
  • Ad hoc projects

You should possess the following key skills and attributes:

  • Undergraduate/college degree or working towards an accounting designation; a combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, with above average problem-solving skills
  • Likes to work as a team while independently managing their own responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Excel/Office, and adaptability to learn new systems
  • Yardi Voyager and Real Estate experience is an asset
