The Shindleman family history begins in 1912, when Sandy and Robert’s grandfather, Harry Shindleman, emigrated to Canada. The Shindlemans started in various farming and agricultural activities, meat processing and grocery business.

Sandy Shindleman recognized very early that he wanted to work in the real estate industry and, at the age of 18, became a licensed real estate broker and started investing in local real estate in Portage la Prairie. Sandy moved to Winnipeg in 1975 and that is where the Shindico story begins.

New Facility Building, Becoming the Largest Storage Facility in Winnipeg

StorageVille, the Winnipeg-owned and operated storage company, is excited to announce the construction of a new multi-story purpose-built temperature-controlled building, add­ing 48,000 square feet and over 400 lockers to its existing inventory of 929 lockers. With this expan­sion, StorageVille will now have the largest storage facility in Winnipeg, boasting a total of 123,000 square feet, including the new building and the current inventory of 75,000 square feet.

Along with the Reenders Drive location in Transcona, which has 67,000 square feet of lockers, this expansion will make StorageVille the largest local provider of self-storage in Winnipeg.

Since its inception in 2002, StorageVille has been at the forefront of the storage industry in Winnipeg. In 2014, it became the first self-storage company in Winnipeg to construct a multi- story, purpose-built, temperature-controlled building heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. This new building was a game-changer and was designed to meet the needs of Winnipeg.

“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our facilities in Lindenwoods,” said Glen Ladell, General Manager, for StorageVille. “This new building will provide our customers with a wide range of storage options, including temperature-controlled storage units, alarmed and monitored lockers, and secure gate access with pass codes. With this expansion at our Waverley location, we are positioning StorageVille to better help the community with much-needed temporary storage capacity.”

The new building will be constructed with energy efficiency in mind and is supported by Manitoba Hydro’s Energy Efficient program. Adding to the large solar panel array already installed will reduce the carbon footprint, reduce operating costs, and keep rental rates competitive

Shindico Realty Inc. and Olexa Developments are pleased to announce that the Water Tower District received approval at the June 24^th Riel Community Committee meeting to increase density from 1,200 to 2,000 multifamily units.
