Many business owners took a hit during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, especially those in the personal service industries. Hair stylists, nail technicians, tanning salons, and many others have been shut down multiple times – putting a halt on their income streams and stopping thousands of customers from receiving their favourite services.
Now that restrictions have been lifted in Winnipeg, these services have been fully booked up. Customers see these services as an essential part of their identity and these services fuel their overall confidence.
Evoluir Hair Salon is located at Boardwalk Shopping Centre at 1413A Henderson Highway. They specialize in multiple beauty services from hair colour, cut and styling, nail art, and more.
Marina Melo-Cabral, owner of Evoluir Hair Salon, is excited to be back in the salon with her usual clientele and employees.
The pandemic has closed their shop three times and they’re currently running on a limited capacity. Only half the salon employees are working at a time, and they take extra precautions to sanitize their workstations.
“It sucks but we’re getting through it,” said Melo-Cabral
The shop owner said that the main challenge of the current pandemic is staying connected with her employees to the level that they were before the pandemic. Nowadays, they’ve been staying connected through various group chats and social media.
“We’re a big family here and it’s been hard being apart from everyone.”
Since they’ve been open, their books have been filled with customers wanting to look their best for the summer.
As of August 7, they were able to welcome their employees and customers in with no limit on capacity.
