Grant Park Pavilions, a mixed-use development featuring retail, office, and high-rise residential, is under way. The centre’s first occupant, Walmart Supercentre, recently opened. Adjacent to Winnipeg’s first lifestyle centre, Grant Park Festival, Grant Park Pavilions is a welcome addition to the area in a great infill location.

Assembling the land for Grant Park Pavilions took over two decades, and included the acquisition of fifty acres of land surrounded by the Royal Bank, Manitoba Hydro, and Pembina Highway. In this time, Shindico saw construction and infrastructure costs triple, the growing demand of the market on all sides of the new property, and the densification of River Heights, North Fort Garry, Tuxedo, Linden Woods, Linden Ridge, Whyte Ridge, and the new Charleswood Corridor – all areas that will benefit from Grant Park Pavilions. Waiting over twenty years took patience and tenacity, but the Shindleman brothers knew that it would ultimately be “an overnight success.”

Grant Park Pavilions is an important amenity mixed-use centre. Best characterized as a customer centered retail hub – the development will be a vibrant gathering place with a strong focus on connectivity to both new and existing neighbourhoods.

Grant Park Pavilions represents an opportunity to transform Winnipeg by repurposing vacant, underutilized lands near the Downtown Centre into a new neighbourhood that will be serviced by all modes of transportation – transit, an efficient roadway system (both regional and local), and active transportation. It will also serve Winnipeg’s new economy – one based on green energy and shortening travelling distances – by being a major piece of the land-use puzzle that assists in completing this community in providing residents the opportunity to live, work, and play all in one walkable neighbourhood.

“The opportunity to assemble a plot of land this size and an infill location may never happen during one’s lifetime” and for that, the Shindlemans are grateful to have the opportunity to be the developer, generate jobs, and be a huge contributor to our tax base.
